Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s long-awaited wedding celebrations have officially begun, with New York City’s Madison Square Garden transformed into the backdrop for one of the year’s most anticipated celebrity events.
The multi-day festivities have been wrapped in secrecy for months, but on Friday the first details began to emerge as guests arrived in black tie and security tightened around the iconic venue.
Celebrity Guests Attending
Famous musicians and supermodels were spotted heading inside. The list includes Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, Lena Dunham, Sabrina Carpenter, Emma Stone, Karlie Kloss, Camila Cabello, the Haim sisters.
One of the biggest surprises of the evening is expected to be a performance from Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks. According to The New York Times, the pair were seen taking part in a soundcheck inside the arena ahead of the celebration.
The scale of the event has been impossible to ignore. A four-block stretch of Seventh Avenue was closed to traffic, with roughly 1,000 guests expected to attend Friday’s festivities. Dozens of blacked-out vehicles arrived throughout the afternoon, disappearing behind towering black curtains erected outside the venue.
Even with a massive heat wave in the city, fans gathered outside Madison Square Garden hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrations, while workers spent days unloading food, decorations and event supplies ahead of the weekend.
The choice of Madison Square Garden surprised many who expected Swift to opt for a more secluded destination. Instead, the arena offers something increasingly rare for a couple of their profile: privacy in the heart of Manhattan.
Swift and Kelce, both 36, announced their engagement last summer after beginning their relationship in 2023. While the celebrations are underway, the exact details surrounding the couple’s wedding ceremony remain closely guarded.
The festivities also coincide with America’s 250th birthday weekend, adding another layer of attention to an already trending event. At the same time, President Donald Trump is holding a rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., while the White House’s social media accounts have shared posts referencing Swift and her Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift’s Lifetime Best Friend
Among those celebrating with the couple is one person who has been by Swift’s side since the very beginning: her longtime best friend Abigail Anderson.
Anderson arrived at the festivities alongside her husband, Charles Berard, wearing a strapless two-tone jacquard gown with clear heels, while Berard opted for a classic black tuxedo.
The friendship between Swift and Anderson stretches back more than two decades. The pair met as teenagers at Henderson High School outside Nashville, and their bond was immortalized in Swift’s Fearless track “Fifteen,” which includes the lyric, “You sit in class next to a redhead named Abigail, and soon enough you’re best friends.”
Since then, Anderson has remained one of Swift’s closest confidantes, appearing at award shows, supporting major career milestones and featuring in several of the singer’s projects. She also publicly celebrated Swift’s engagement to Kelce, reposting the announcement with the simple caption, “This.”
Reflecting on their friendship during a 2019 interview with Zane Lowe, Swift said, “She’s been through a lot with me. Changes in my life, changes in her life.” Crossing her fingers together, she added, “And we’re still like this.”
