Police responded to Perez Hilton‘s Miami home Tuesday night after he appeared to harm himself during a TikTok livestream that prompted multiple calls from concerned viewers.
According to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after people watching the livestream contacted authorities. When officers arrived, they confirmed Hilton was inside the home alone and spoke with family members who were outside the residence.
Rather than forcing entry, deputies chose what the Sheriff’s Office described as “tactically disengaging” while continuing to monitor the situation and prioritize de-escalation.
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”
Perez Hilton Taken to Hospital After Incident
About an hour after deputies arrived, Hilton was transported from the home by ambulance to receive medical treatment.
Commentator Zack Peter later said Hilton is alive and receiving medical care. Peter also said Hilton’s mother and his three children are safe. Those claims have not been independently confirmed by the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office or Hilton’s representatives.
Hilton’s management company, Golden Artists, told TMZ they had been unable to reach him despite repeated attempts.
“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family,” the company said, asking for privacy during this time.
The incident comes months after Hilton publicly revealed he had spent several weeks in the hospital earlier this year. In March, he said complications from the flu led to an ulcer, a perforation, sepsis, and multiple infections. He also said his heart briefly became unstable during his recovery before he was eventually discharged.
Following his hospitalization, Hilton said the experience strengthened his faith and inspired him to begin taking his three children to church regularly.
